Gazprom contests Rosneft pipe access ruling in Supreme Crt again
MOSCOW, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- Sakhalin Energy, unit of Russian gas giant Gazprom which operates the Sakhalin-2 pipeline, has submitted a claim to the Supreme Court, challenging a lower court decision obliging it to grant oil major Rosneft access to the pipeline’s spare capacity, a court official told PRIME Friday.
The Supreme Court dismissed cassation claims of Sakhalin Energy and Gazprom regarding the Sakhalin-2 access in December.
The hearing of the new case has not been slated yet.
In September, the Arbitration Court of the Far East Federal District cancelled lower courts’ rulings to turn down Rosneft’s claim against Sakhalin Energy, which denied the oil company access to Sakhalin-2, and said Gazprom must give access to the spare capacity, which was preliminarily estimated at 2 billion cubic meters.
Rosneft wanted to carry gas from the north of the Sakhalin Island to its future liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant via the Sakhalin-2 pipeline, while Sakhalin Energy said that there was no free capacity.
